Why do some managers blatantly lie and use bully tactics? Employees beware of applying to One and Only Reethi Rah in the Maldives and never send your application to the human resources manager.
I had the terrible experience of signing a contract which involved relocation overseas and just one week before my intended departure date the HR manager withdrew the offer because I was asking too many questions!
The HR manager is completely incompetent because the contract had stated that I had to work continuously for 12 months before I could take vacation and when i asked her if that was true, her response was "oh its just a standard contract, just sign it".
She also told me that once I got there quote "THAT IS IT" - no going back eventhough there is a 3 month probation period. On asking if I could leave if there was an emergency back home - no answer.
So they withdrew the contract because of these questions. They also said they withdrew the contract because the living conditions were very difficult however I obtained evidence from more than one source that the living conditions were fine proving that the HR manager is a liar!
Another manager at another luxury resort provided me more information in 15 seconds than she ever did, including information on 10 emergency days that I should be entitled to. This other manager also said that what they told me at Reethi Rah regarding the difficult living conditions was untrue.
I forego other job opportunities because I accepted that job offer and I spent a lot of money in preparation to move.
There should be a legal body to protect employees against Rogues like her.
