DONT EVER GO TO MOTOR FINANCE WIZARD FOR A CAR LOAN, IF YOUR DESPERATE AND NO ONE ELSE WILL OFFER YOU ONE, STILL DONT GO THERE, YOU WILL REGRET IT.
WHEN I TURNED 18 I TOTALLY STUFFED MY CREDIT RATING UP.
WHEN I WAS NEARLY 20 I APPLIED FOR SOME SMALL LOANS AND WAS KNOCKED BACK BUT MOTOR FINANCE WIZARD SAID YES.
I WAS FROM NORTHERN ADELAIDE SO I HAD A FRIEND DROP ME @ THE REYNELLA M.F.W, TOOK US AROUND 2 HOURS TO GET THERE.
THEY TOLD ME OVER THE PHONE THAT I SHOULD BE ABLE TO GET SOMETHING ALONG THE LINES OF A VT - VX COMMODORE OR SIMILAR.
SO I WENT THERE WITH SUCH HIGH HOPES, WHEN I GOT THERE HAD A LOOK AROUND AT THE CARS BUT THEY WERE ALL PRETTY EXPENSIVE FOR OLDER CARS, SUCH AS A 1996 HOLDEN BARINA FOR $16,000.
I SAW A NICE VT COMMODORE ACCLAIM THERE WAS HIGH PRICED ($17,999), BUT THE PRICE ASIDE I WAS INTERESTED IN IT AS I HAD NO CHOICE REALLY.
ONCE I SPOKE WITH THE SALES PEOPLE THEY WERE ONLY WILLING TO OFFER ME A CHOICE OF 2 CARS.
A 1996 MITSUBISHI MAGNA - POOR CONDITION ($15,499) OR A 1996 FORD FAIRLANE - OKAY CONDITION ($15,999)
NOW I DIDNT REALLY LIKE EITHER BUT I DID SEE ANOTHER FAIRLANE THERE A BLUE ONE LOOKED ALOT NICER THAN THE ONE THEY OFFERED ME FOR $16,499. THEY SAID THEY HAVE OFFERED ME ALL THEY ARE WILLING TO OFFER ME AND I CAN EITHER TAKE IT OR LEAVE IT.
SO I PAID MY $1000 DEPOSIT AND TOOK THE FAIRLANE, THEY OFFERED ME A 3 YR WARRANTY WITH IT FOR I THINK ANOTHER $1500, WHILST WAITING FOR THE FINANCE TO COME THROUGH HAD TO WAIT IN A TINY CUBICLE FOR ABOUT 5 HOURS. GOT THERE @ MIDDAY AND ENDED UP LEAVING AROUND 5.30
WHEN TRAVELLING HOME I NOTICED A FEW PROBLEMS WITH THE VEHICLE:
TRANSMISSION WAS SLIPPING WATER WAS LEAKING FROM THE BOTTOM FRONT END AERIAL DIDNT OPERATE SO RADIO DIDNT WORK PROPERLY CD CHANGER IN THE BOOT HAD NO CARTRIDGE
CALLED WARRANTY AND THEY WERE GREAT AT THIS STAGE, BOOKED CAR IN FOR ALL PROBS TO BE FIXED.
GOT CAR BACK, WASNT LEAKING ANYMORE, AERIAL WORKED AND THEY APPARENTLY FIXED TRANSMISSION BUT IT WAS STILL SLIPPING.
SO CALLED AND LET WARRANTY KNOW ABOUT TRANSMISSION AND THEY SAID THEY WOULD HAVE A NEW ONE BROUGHT AND PUT IN BUT WOULD HAVE TO WAIT A COUPLE OF WEEKS.. THIS DIDNT BOTHER ME..
AFTER A WEEK AND A HALF CAR TRANSMISSION STILL SLIPPING HOPPED IN THE CAR TO GOTO WORK AND GOT ABOUT HALFWAY DOWN THE ROAD AND THEY CAR SORTA SOUNDED AND FELT REALLY SICK, CHUGGING ALONG AND BLOWING LOTS OF SMOKE, SO I TURNED AROUND AND WENT HOME.
WHEN I PULLED UP HOME THERE WAS SMOKE UNDER THE BONNET OF THE VEHICLE SO I PULLED BONNET UP AND FOUND THAT THE VEHICHLE WAS ON FIRE. CALLED FIRE BRIDGADE AND THEY CAME, PUT IT OUT - D/C BATTERY AND TOLD ME NOT TO DRIVE IT UNTIL IT HAD BEEN ASSESSED. AT THIS STAGE I WAS LOOKING AT THE PLATE ON THE VEHICLE AND IT SAID "FORD" "FAIRLANE" "1995", I WAS VERY ANGRY TO KNOW THAT THE VEHICLE WASNT EVEN A 1996 THAT I PURCHASED.
CALLED WARRANTY AND THEY HAD A TOW TRUCK PICK IT UP AND IT WAS ASSESSED BY THE CAR REPAIR PLACE.
THEY LET ME KNOW THAT IT WAS RUNNING ON 5 CYLINDERS AND IT MAY NEED ANOTHER MOTOR PUT IN ALSO THAT THE DIFFERENTIAL WAS HALF HANGING OUT THE VEHICLE AND NEEDED REPLACING.
FAIR ENOUGH I THOUGHT THAT IT WOULD BE QUITE GOOD - NEW MOTOR, NEW DIFFERENTIAL AND NEW TRANSMISSION - WAS STOKED
CAR REPAIR PLACE CALLED ME BACK AFTER HAVING THE VEHICLE FOR A FEW DAYS AND INFORMED ME THAT THE WARRANTY WASNT WILLING TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE AND THAT I HAD TO PAY FOR ALL REPAIRS EXCEPT THE TRANSMISSION
THEY QUOTED ME IN THE THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS FOR THE REPAIR FOR THE VEHICLE.
I WENT DOWN TO THE REPAIR PLACE - WAS FURIOUS AND WANTED TO KNOW WHY MY WARRANTY WOULDNT COVER ME.
HE LET ME KNOW THAT THEY WOULDNT BE REPAIRING THE VEHICLE DUE TO MY POOR DRIVING OF THE VEHICLE AND ACCUSED ME OF DOING BURNOUTS IN THE VEHICLE.
I GAVE HIM A MOUTHFULL AND LET HIM KNOW THAT I HAVE NOT EVEN EXCEEDED THE SPEED LIMIT IN THE VEHICLE LET LET ALONE BURNT ANY RUBBER IN IT. HE THEN TOOK ME TOO THE VEHICLE AND PUT HIS HAND ON THE BACK MUDFLAP & RAN HIS FINGER ACROSS IT, HE THEN SHOWED ME THE BLACK RESIDUE ON HIS FINGER AND SAID THAT IT WAS RUBBER AND I HAVE BEEN DOING BURNOUTS IN IT.
HE THEN FURTHERED TO TELL ME HE HAS TAKEN PHOTOS OF THE DIFF AND MUDFLAPS TO SEND IN TO MY WARRANTY AND TOLD ME I HAD TO PAY FOR ALL REPAIRS. HE WASNT EVEN WILLING TO UNDERSTAND THAT THE VEHICLE MAY HAVE ACTUALLY CAME FROM THE YARD LIKE THAT.
I CONTACTED WARRANTY AND THEY TOLD ME THE SAME THING. SO I TOLD THEM EXACTLY WHERE THEY COULD GO. I DECIDED TO STOP PAYING MY PAYMENTS CAUSING THEM TO REPO THE VEHICLE AND RESELL IT.
SO DONT BUY FROM MOTOR FINANCE WIZARD.
1) WAS TOLD IT WAS A 1996 - IT WAS A 1995
2) MY LOAN WITH THEM WHICH IS APPARENTLY NO INTEREST WAS OVER $18,000 DOLLARS FOR A 1995 VEHICLE.
3) CHECKED REDBOOK.COM.AU FOR THE VALUE OF THE VEHICLE AND FOR A 1995 FORD FAIRLANE IT WAS VALUED AS A TRADE IN FOR $1,100 - $2,600 OR THE NATIONAL AVERAGE PRICE AS A PRIVATE SALE IS $3,100 - $4,600.
4) HAD TONS OF PROBLEMS THAT THEY REFUSED TO REPAIR EVEN AFTER I PAID FOR 3 YEARS COVER.
IF ANYONE ELSE HAS HAD PROBLEMS PLEASE POST REPLIES. |

Wow !!
I cannot believe how much premium they charge with advertising so called 'free interest'.
Did you not know what the approximate value of these cars were before you bought ? |

| I would soooo like to thank you for this advice, i was actually thinking about going in to the st marys one tomorrow, to purchase a car, after purchasing one 5 years ago, that has spen 4 and a half years off the road being repaired, has cost me $5,500 in repairs in this last year, and it has only been on the road for 2 weeks before it started playing up again, being desperate i thought id try motor wizard, i think i will cat my losses and just not bother with a car, i think all these car yards a shonky, unless you can afford a decent new model car, your better off with public transport, what a pain. |

I couldn't get credit anywhere else so being young and dumb and needing a car urgently i went to Motor Finance Wizard. I went to see what kind of cars they had, not the best picks, but i couldnt be fussy. I was looking at a 2004 astra but they said i needed a $1500 deposit, which i didnt have. They asked me what i could afford as a deposit. i told them $500. They then tried to sell me a old excel for $16,000 when i know you could get the same one for around $2000.
But i needed a car urgently i found an alright 1998 astra, so i bought that for $16,000, when really only worth $4000. They then talked me into getting warranty for and extra $3000, so i thought why not anything goes wrong i can get it fixed, or so i thought,
I bought the car in winter, so never tried the air con. Then in summer tried the air con, didnt work, not just because of running out of gas either. so Called up mfw to get it fixed they told me it has never worked when they had it either but because i didnt get the car serviced every three months warranty was not covered on the car anymore. I asked if i could remove the warranty from my payments then because i'd never be able to use it, they said no i still hav to pay for it, $3000 is alot of money for paying off nothing.
Oh and just about 2 months ago the tappets were goin, i couldn't use warranty and didnt want to pay more on the piece of crap car so i sold the car for $1000 :( best price i could get for it.
So two years on now, before about 1 mnth ago all my payments were all up to date $120 per week for last 2 years. i have one year left to pay off it but ive reduced my payments, They're lucky if they get $50 per week.
So anyone out there thinking of goin with MFW DDDOOONNNNTTTT they rip you off bad. "no interest" but they charge 4 times more than the car is worth.
